Back to winning ways at the weekend, thankfully overturning the embarrassing defeat at Histon earlier in the season with a fine 3-0 win, Matt Green scoring 2 fine goals and the 3rd coming from another one of Darren Patterson signings Michael Howard, after the game Matt Green said that he had got a very good understanding going with his new team mates and that the credit for his two goals should go more to his team mates as they did the hard work, he has every confidence in his team mates and feels that its only a matter of time before we go firing up the table, Green is also hoping to do enough to keep him at the club longer than just this season.
Pictures soon.
Now we just have to get revenge for another embarrassing defeat by winning on Saturday against Droylsden at home, win only 2 games in February a win is a must against the basement team.
Saturday 9th February 2008
The U's face tough opposition today in part timers Histon at home, Oxford are almost back to a full strength squad with just Chris Willmott and Craig McAllister on the injured list, McAllister may be fit to face Droylsden next week, but the team today should be simular to the one that started at Abingdon in the week, including Billy Turley and Matt Green, the U's need to get revenge for the embarrassing defeat earlier in the season to the Cambridgeshire minnows.
Thursday 7th February 2008
Oxford have just the league to concentrate on now after being knocked out of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, they went down 1-0 last night to North Leigh at Court Place Farm, the U's fielded a very young side including Alex Fisher, James Clarke and Danny Rose, the U's missed chances and hit the woodwork, but it just wasn't to be their night and went out.
Wednesday 6th February 2008
Oxford drew 1-1 last night at Abingdon United in a friendly in aid of Michael Alexis, over 500 fans turned out on a very cold night and saw a very good end to end game of football, Oxford fielded a near starting XI minus Billy Turley, but it was Abingdon who went into the lead in the 2nd half, before Michael Blackwood equalised on his debut to level things up.
A mixture of Reserves and Youth will play tonight at Court Place Farm in the Senior cup, kick off 7.30pm.
Monday 4th February 2008
York City won at the weekend in the FA Trophy, this means our fixture at York on February 23rd will now be re-arranged, no new date has yet been set for the fixture.
Oxford United send an XI to Abingdon United tomorrow night to play a friendly for former Youth team player Michael Alexis who was badly injured in a fixture for Abingdon over the Christmas period, this game was scheduled for last month but was postponed because of the floods, kick off is 7.45pm.
On Wednesday night the U's will be at home to North Leigh in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup Quarter Final, the fixture will be played at Oxford City's Court Place Farm, kick off is 7.30pm, Admission is £5 for Adults and £2.50 for Over 65s and Under 16s.
Sunday 3rd February 2008
With Oxford not having a game this weekend it is a good time for them to recharge their batteries, plus an even bigger chance for the new boys to get to know the team a lot better, the newest signing Michael Blackwood is hoping to supply the ammunition for his former Kidderminster team mate Justin Richards, Richards has done well in his first two games for the U's and we saw what is expected from him at Aldershot in the week as he gave the shots defence major trouble from the off, we didn't score but the performance was the best for a long time and all the new boys are starting to get an understanding, We now have Blackwood, Richards, Michael Howard, Matt Green, Adam Murray and Craig McAllister added to the squad under Darren Patterson and that is a fine selection of players considering the ones that have left.
The Stars Did come out for Jim Smith on Thursday night and what a Great night it was too, Nick Merry, Darren Patterson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Alan Hodgkinson MBE, Steve McClaren, Sam Allardyce, Trevor Francis, Ron Atkinson, Howard Wilkinson, Martin Keown, Dave Bassett, Ray Graydon, David Pleat, Gordon Taylor, Gary Newbon and Kevin Bond along with Host Jim Rosenthal were among the 200 Guest at Blenheim Palace to honour Jim's career in football, representatives from clubs Jim had managed appeared on stage to make a speech about Jim and his management skills and about him as a person, they were from the heart and very emotional, each presenting Jim with a gift marking his time there, It was no different from Nick Merry the Oxford United chairman who done a great job organising the event ended the guest speeches by summing Jim up, saying that other than being a Great Manager and colleague he was proud to have him as a friend, Jim himself then thanked everyone for coming and for all the kind words they had spoken about him and ended by thanking the person who had got him through his career and was his biggest rock, his Wife, after presenting her with a huge bouquet of flowers it was time for Sports Comedian Aaron James, He was very funny with his impressions of Frank Bruno, Kevin Keegan, David Beckham, Eric Cantona and Sven, but after Jim's speech no one could follow that and the evening filtered out quietly.
I will make a gallery soon, sorry no pictures of me in a dinner suit for you(Thankfully).

Hello Everyone, I'm Back........So Rob Duffy has gone to Wrexham on a months loan and Alex Jeannin has gone to Kidderminster Harriers until the end of the season.
Coming into the club are 27 year old Striker Justin Richards who has signed on loan until the end of the season from Kidderminster Harriers, Matt Green returns to the club after his horrific collision at Northwich Victoria which resulted in him breaking his collerbone on December 8th last year, he has fully recovered and will hopefully start off as well as he did last time by scoring again.
The 3rd player to arrive at the club is Michael Howard a 29 year old left back, he has signed on loan for a month from Morecambe, like Richards and Green, Howard will probably go straight into the team to face Grays tomorrow.
Thursday 15th November 2007
Oxford may have another injury worry after Matt Day was reported to have a knee injury which forced him to sit on the bench in the England C international in Finland last night, until he returns to the club they cannot tell how serious the injury is, Day will miss the game against Ebbsfleet anyway through suspension after picking up his 5th booking against Northwich last week.
Wednesday 14th November 2007
Rob Duffy came through 70 minutes yesterday at Aldershot in a friendly arranged behind closed doors, Oxford lost 2-0 but the game also saw Eddie Anaclet and Eddie Hutchinson come through another game on their road to recovery, the two Eddie's will probably go straight into the squad for Saturdays match at home to Ebbsfleet.
Sunday 11th November 2007
Darren Patterson made a fine start to his New Managerial career by getting the U's through to the 2nd round of the E.ON Sponsored FA Cup with a 3-1 win over Blue Square Premier strugglers Northwich Victoria, the U's started off well and it got better on 7 mins when Alex Jeannin arrived at the far post unmarked to head home well, then on 39 mins the Vics got back into the game when Danny Williams equalised from close range, but the U's got back on track just before the break when Yemi Odubade was adjugded to have been pulled down and he brushed himself off to slot home the spot kick.
The 2nd half started off the same as the 1st, but this time Jeannin missed his chance to add to his tally, Eddie Anaclet returned from injury to come on as a 2nd half sub on the hour and it was he who got the 3rd and final goal, Alex Fisher who had also come on as sub fired down the left side, cut into the area and flicked a great cross into the path of Anaclet who slotted the ball into the net to jubilant celebrations from the players, they all congratulated Eddie, but the main celebration was saved for Fisher who had done exceptionally well to get the ball into the area for the goal, well done my name sake, well done Darren Patterson and here's to a great draw in the 2nd round of the FA Cup draw taking place after the Torquay game this afternoon.
Pictures appearing on Picture Page.

Finally I have sorted this blasted computer out and just in time for the appointment of Darren Patterson as Manager of Oxford United after the Bald Eagle Jim Smith stood down today to go upstairs and make his director role his full time job, after 39 years in football it will be hard for Jim to not be involved on the pitch, but the future of the club with him as a full time director will be a good one, now was the right time to go, with the fans starting to get on his back a bit with recent results not going well, Jim can now be remembered by the fans as the legend he was, is and always will be, now the club must move on with Darren Patterson at the helm and tomorrows FA Cup tie at home to Northwich Victoria will be the start of the new era, lets hope that a win tomorrow will then filter into the league and get the job of getting the U's back into the Football League back on track.
Oxford today signed 22 year old centre half Patrick Collins from Darlington on a months loan, the former Sheffield Wedsnesday defender will go straight into the squad to face Northwich tomorrow to add strength to the injury hit squad.

After much frustration I have now got my site uploaded, thanks for your patients..lol.
Fans are reminded that season ticket holders can buy two tickets for £10 each for their friends for the Torquay United game on Thursday October 11th, this option is not available online, you can only get these tickets by calling in person at the ticket office, no later than 2pm on the day of the game.

Don't forget that the game on Sundays game with York City is a 3.00pm kick off and not 7.45pm as stated in the programme last night, that game could see the welcome return of Gary Twigg, the striker has been missed since getting injured at Stevenage in August!.
Good to see Director Kelvin Thomas back from Florida last night at the game, Kelvins a great guy and has been missed since he returned home at the end of last season, it still wasn't offside!!.
After the game last night Jim Smith spoke of his joy at getting a team together after most of the starting team were stuck in the horrendous tailbacks from the accidents on the M40 and A34 on tuesday night, he could not hold the players responsible for that, they left early enough but you just can't warrant for traffic like that.
Tuesday 25th September 2007
Oxford thankfully got back to winning ways tonight against newly promoted Salisbury City 2-1, the U's took the lead through a great goal from Yemi Odubade who was put through by his new/old strike partner Rob Duffy, Oxford looked in full control of this game and then again were stunned by an equalising goal out of nowhere, but the maker of the 1st goal spared the U's blushes from the penalty spot after he was brought down by the City keeper, Salisbury's assistant manager was sent to the stands after an altercation with Matt Day before Duffy stepped up to slot home the kick, not bad after earlier almost knocking himself out on the goal post trying to put in another chance, better performce from the U's, 3 much needed points, roll on York on Sunday.
Marvin Robinson came on to make his Cambridge debut tonight as a late sub on 78 minutes and was sent off after receiving his 2nd yellow with a minute to go.....

As written last week Chris Tardif has left the club today, this is a very sad day!.
After making 64 for appearances for the mighty U's since arriving at the club in 2004 with Graham Rix he has decided to walk away from proffessional football and start a new job, he will be missed by all the fans and by all the staff at OUFC, Tards was a fans favourite after winning Andrew Knaptons player of the year in his 1st season, he is one of footballs nice guys, I will miss him at the club, he was loved by all the staff and his smilling face will be missed, though the last few days has been emotional because Chris hated making this decision, meeting him after the game at Alrincham with tears in his eyes said it all for me, shaking my had closely he said "Darrell I hate goodbyes" moments like that you will never forget, I would like to wish him well in his new venture and best wishes to his family who will probably see more of him now, good luck.
Tardif runs out for his last U's appearance.
Another player to leave the club today on a 3 month loan was Marvin Robinson, he goes to the not so mighty U's of Cambridge until the end of the year, good luck Cambridge.
The U's have signed 18 year old Polish born keeper Alex Cisak from Leicester City as cover for Billy Turley after the departure of Chris Tardif today, Alex has lived in Australia since he was just 2 and is one of many keepers on the books at the foxes.
Phil Gilchrist and Chris Willmott will make their comebacks together in a specially arranged reserve friendly at Milton United on Tuesday October 2nd with kick off being 7.30pm.
Friday 21st September 2007
After losing against Aldershot at the weekend the last thing the U's wanted was to lose against a newly promoted village team, but that is what happened, in front of the Sultana cameras again the U's failed to win a game, after dominating the first 28 minutes the U's are killed by a deflected goal on 29 minutes and that's how it stayed, chance after chance went begging for Oxford and United had their most embarrassing defeat ever in a league game!.
Thursday 20th September 2007
Chris Tardif didn't travel to Histon for the game tonight on Sultana TV and looks like he will be leaving the club, it will be a very sad day, Tardif is not just a great keeper but a great bloke.

Oxfords 7 match unbeaten run came to an end today after they were beaten at Home to Aldershot 3-2, after going 2-0 down the U's battled to bring the game level after the break through Alex Jeannin and Paul Shaw goals and even looked like winning the game, but up stepped the shots who netted in the dying minutes to deny the U's a point.
Wednesday 12th September 2007
After the great win last Saturday at Altrincham it was down to earth with a bump after the 0-0 draw at Grays Athletic last night, the U's should have made this game count, but missed a lot of chances to see off Grays, though both teams hit the woodwork it was Oxford who should have won.
Sunday 9th September 2007
Great to get back to winning ways yesterday at Altrincham, Paul Shaw scored his first goal for the U's with a brilliantly flicked header on 39 mins to send the U's in 1-0 up at the break after a great cross from Yemi Odubade, In the 2nd half Altrincham pulled a goal back on 77 mins after the U's let them play too much football, Chris Tardif making his first start of the season was totally blinded to the ball as it came through a group of players, he managed to get a finger to it but was unable to stop it going in, The U's again replaced both Strikers after Rob Duffy got injured, Danny Rose and Marvin Robinson replacing Duffy and Shaw, the U's then started to claw themselves back to the Altrincham end and had a few chances on goal before Matt Day headed the U's back in front on 86 mins, in the dying moments of the game Alty had Munroe sent off for firstly a foul on Robinson and then kicking out at the player after he went down, Oxford then finished them off when Yemi Odubade was put clear through by Carl Pettefer and He lobbed the stranded keeper all of 30 yards out and with that being in the 95th minute of the game it was all over.
Attendance 1,298 with the U's fans again being superb.
Great result going into another away game on tuesday where the U's take on Grays.
Pictures later after my boys football.
